I am fostering him for BARC. He is a GORGEOUS boy that looks to be a cross between a Russian Blue and a Silver Tabby. He has the typical Russian Blue body--big sturdy body, big round head and really big, round gold eyes that give him an inquisitive look. (You can’t really see how big they are in the pictures because he kept blinking when the flash went off). He has the most beautiful silvery blue fur with a very slight circular pattern on his side. He also has cream around his eyes and lips and it sort of makes him look like he is wearing makeup. J

He is a HUGE love sponge and he absolutely ADORES being petted, brushed and talked to. He LOVES for me to tell him what a good boy he is. He will run over and use his scratching post, then run back to me because he knows I will praise him very highly and give him lots of good scratches. It’s really cute. He loves to be with me wherever I am. Sometimes if I’m on the couch watching TV (not paying attention to him), he will walk across my lap, then stop on the other side to see if I’m paying attention. If I don’t pet him or talk to him, he will keep walking back and forth across me until I do.

He was previously adopted from BARC but they brought him back to the shelter because they said he didn’t get along with their other cat. However, I think that they probably introduced them too quickly and didn’t give them time to adjust. I have had him at my house for about a month and he is now perfectly fine with my cats. There have been no fights.

When I first got him home, he would hiss when he would see my other cats outside “his room” But, I kept him in a room by himself for about a week, so he could chill out and get used to me and all the new smells and sounds at my house. Then, I SLOWLY introduced them and now I let him run the house with no problems. I think he would be just fine in a home with other cats if he is introduced slowly (I can tell you how to do this) and as long as the other cats are pretty laid back and would not attack him. My cats are VERY laid back and are friends with everyone. Sebastian will sometimes still hiss at one of them when wants to go somewhere and one of them is blocking his path. Most of the time, he just tries to walk around them. (Since he likes to follow me from room to room, this happens a lot). He will even try to avoid my 4 month old kitten so I think he is just afraid they are going to attack him. It’s kind of funny that this really big boy is really kind of a scaredy cat. I think over time, he’ll forget all about hissing. My kitten gets into all sorts of mischief and his curiosity gets the best of him so he HAS to investigate whatever she is playing with. I’ve even seen him playing with her a little. He might hiss once in awhile, but then plays again.

I don’t think he would do well as an outside since he gets scared of new cats. I think if he saw another cat, he would run off to hide and end up getting lost. That may be how he ended up at the shelter in the first place. He’s obviously been someone’s pet because he is so loving and seems to know what “no” means.

He’s had all his shots, has been neutered and micro-chipped so he is ready for a new home right away! BARC’s adoption fee is $55.00. Call or write me if you’d like to meet Sebastian.
